Personality Disorders Exhibited by Israel in the eyes of others

As indicated in the articles concerning the USA and China, one society may have certain traits and mannerism that would be considered a disorder in another society while perfectly normal within that society. For Israel it is Paranoid Personality Disorder.

The Standard used is to diagnose these nations is the American Diagnostic Statistic Manual (DSM –IV-TR) . The diagnosis is followed by an explanation of the basis for the diagnosis and the reason why people from these countries have developed what is perceived by others as a personality Disorder.

The Criteria for Paranoid Personality Disorder is a pervasive distrust or suspiciousness of others present in at least four of the following ways:

1) Pervasive suspiciousness of being deceived, harmed or exploited,

2) Unjustified doubts about loyalty or trustworthiness of friends and associates,

3) reluctance to confide in others because of doubts of loyalty or trustworthiness,

4) Hidden demeaning or threatening meanings read into benign remarks or events,

5) Bear grudges; does not forgive insults, injuries, or slights,

6) Angry reactions to perceived attacks on his or her character or reputation.

Israel has had a difficult History which has created the paranoid ideation. The state of Israel came into being only in 1948 although the people of Israel have existed, albeit scattered all over the world, since time immemorial. According to the Bible, God scattered Israel all over the world away from her land for a season. God had however assured Israel that at the appointed time she would regain possession of her land and so it came to pass in 1948.

Israel is surrounded by hostile Arab neighbors and it seems like Israel is always on the defensive. The Palestine issue is one of the greatest challenges of Israel and as the pressure mounts for Israel to relax its borders and cease the annexation of more land in Northern Jerusalem the more Israel perceives this as a threat to her. Then there is the problem with the West bank and the Gaza strip which Israel claims as her own while Palestine also wants a share if not full control of.

Israel does not seem to have lasting friends expect, perhaps the United States of America, among the world’s super powers. But even with that, Israel does not appear to trust the relationship because perhaps Israel sees what is behind the ties. Israel in most times acts alone even if criticized if it perceives the action to be the best for her survival.

Personality Disorders Exhibited by China in the eyes of others

As indicated in the article on the percieved personaity Disorder of the USA, We tend to judge others based on their behaviour as compared to the rest of the world in the same manner that we judge the behavior of those in our own societies that is considerd abnormal. One society may have certain traits and mannerism that would be considered a disorder in another society while perfectly normal within that society.

Considering that personality Disorders stem from gradual development of inflexible and distorted personality and behavioral patterns, This writer investigated a few countries that she is familiar with and came up with what maybe termed as Disorders to the rest of the world while perfectly normal within their own countries.

In this article China is considered in relation to the rest of the world. The criteria used to diagnosis these Disorders is the American Diagnostic Statistic Manual (DSM –IV-TR) .The DSM gives the criteria for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCPD) as a pervasive pattern of preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism and mental and interpersonal control, as indicated by at least four of the following:

1) Preoccupation with details, rules, order, or schedules to the extent that the major point of an activity is lost,

2) Extreme perfectionism that interferes with task completion,

3) Excessive devotion to work to the exclusion of leisure and friendships,

4) Overly inflexible and over conscientious about matters of morality, ethics, or values,
5) Inability to discard worn out or worthless objects,

6) Reluctance to delegate tasks or work with others unless others do exactly the same things,

7) miserliness in spending style toward self and others, Shows rigidity and stubbornness.

China is known for her perfectionist tendencies to the point of seeming paranoid. There is also a controlling spirit that operates in China because of the Communist system which comes out as inflexibility. China is the only country in the world that this writer knows of that has laws on the number of children one can have and yet it is obeyed.

Personality Disorders Exhibited by the USA in the eyes of others

For most adults, personality is attuned to the demands of the society they find themselves in. This means that most people act or behave according to their society’s norms or expectation. If a person diverts from the norms expected by that society, that person is said to have a personality disorder.

For there to be a diagnosis of a personality disorder, the pattern of behavior must be pervasive and must be manifest in at least two of the following areas; cognition, interpersonal functioning, affect and impulse control. People find the behavior of individuals with personality disorders confusing, exasperating, unpredictable and to varying degrees unacceptable.

In the same way that individuals in a society can be said to have a personality disorder due to their deviant behaviour, one can also deduce the same of nations. One society may have certain traits and mannerism that would be considered a disorder in another society while perfectly normal within that society.

Considering that personality Disorders stem from gradual development of inflexible and distorted personality and behavioral patterns, this writer investigated a few countries that she was familiar with and came up with what maybe termed as Disorders to the rest of the world while perfectly normal within their own countries. This will be written in parts starting with the United States of America.

The Standard used to diagnose these nations is the American Diagnostic Statistic Manual (DSM –IV-TR) . The basis for such diagnosis is explained and the reason why people from these countries have developed what is perceived by others as personality Disorders or .

1) The USA, Narcissistic Personality Disorder

According to the DSM, people with Narcissistic personality Disorder Have a “Pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy and behaviour) need for admiration, and lack of empathy as indicated by at least five of the following:

1) Grandiose sense of self importance,

2) Preoccupation of fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty,

3) Belief that she/he is “special” and unique,

4) Excessive need for admiration,

5) Sense of entitlement,

6) Tendency to be interpersonally exploitative,

7) Lacks empathy, is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her,

8) Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes.

This, it is submitted is how the USA is viewed by the rest of the world. The USA works hard to ensure that the world knows how great and special she is and therefore deserving adoration, for according to her, she is the best. There is also the culture of heroism so that even when someone does what was expected of them they are glorified as heroes.

The Humanistic and Existential perspective on the Human nature

There are many psychosocial than biological interpretations of abnormal behavior. This reflects a wide range of opinions on how best to understand humans as people with motives, desires, perceptions, thoughts, among others as opposed to just them being biological organisms.

In this article we consider two perspectives, the Humanistic and the existential.

The Humanistic perspective

This perspective views human nature as basically “good’. It pays less attention to unconscious processes and past causes, while emphasizing the present conscious processes. It places strong emphasis on people’s inherent capacity for responsible self-direction.

In using the concept of self as a unifying theme, humanistic psychologists emphasize the importance of individuality. Carl Rogers ( 1902-1987) a humanist, developed the most systematic formulation of the self -concept, based largely on his pioneering research into the nature of the psychotherapeutic process. His propositions can be summarized as follows:

a) Each individual exists in a private world of experience of which the I, me, or myself is the center.

b) The most basic striving of an individual is toward the maintenance, enhancement, and actualization of the self, and his or her inner tendencies are towards health, ad wholeness under normal conditions.

c) A perceived threat of the self is followed by a defense, including a tightening of perception and behavior and the introduction of self-defense mechanisms.

Misconceptions and stereotypes on the role of nature, nurture and psychopathology

People have many misconceptions on studies that determine behavior, traits and psychopathology in relations to genetic influences. In this article some of those misconceptions are examined and dispelled.

1) Strong genetic effects mean that environmental influences must be unimportant

The fact of the matter is that even if we are discussing a trait or disorder that has strong genetic influence, environmental factors can have major impact on the level of the trait. For example, height is strongly genetically determined, yet nutritional factors have a very large effect on the actual height a person attains. Between 1900 and 1960, the average height of boys reared in London increased by 10 cm due to improved diets (Tizard, 1975).

2) Genes provide a limit to potential

The reality of the matter is that one’s potential can change if one’s environment changes. An example is that of children born to socially disadvantaged parents and adopted by socially privileged families. Studies show that such children have a men IQ of about 12 points higher than those reared in the socially disadvantaged environment ( Capron & Duyme, 1989; Plomin et al., 2001).

3) Genetic studies are of no value for studying environmental influences

Actually the opposite is true. Genetic research strategies provide critical tests of environmental influences on personality and psychopathology. For example monozygotic twins have identical genes, concordance rates of less than 100 percent illustrates the importance of environmental influences , particularly when the environment is not shared, (Bouchard & Loehin, 2001; Jang, 2005).

Kenyan Scientists Affirm Herb causing commotion in Tanzania, as Having Capabilities to Treat Drug-resistant Form of Herpes Virus

A retired pastor in the East African country of Tanzania has in the last few months attracted publicity due to his claim to have a “wonder drug” that treated many chronic ailments including Cancer and AIDS.

Due to the positive response by those who have taken the pastor’s concoction, the road to the pastors residence in a remote village of Tanzania has caused traffic commotions leading to the Government’s intervention.

The concoction known as Mugariga uses a herb which apparently local tribes in the region have previously used for various ailments. According to Rev Ambilikile Mwasapile, the Pastor behind the treatment, a single cup of Mugariga, together with special prayers, was able to cure chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, Tuberculosis, and AIDS

The Tanzanian government started an investigation to establish the drug’s safety early in the month as people continued to flock the herbalist home. Laboratory tests have so far cleared it as safe for human consumption. The Government is currently investigating whether the herb does in fact cure the chronic conditions the cleric claims it does. So far the government has had over two hundred people volunteer for the study.

In the meanwhile the government has had to intervene to control the inflow of traffic towards the clerics village. According to a local news paper, as of the week ending on the 27th of March 2011, there were 24,000 ailing people and their relatives stranded in a queue of more than 4,000 vehicles that extended several kilometers.

What is of interest though is that the “magic herb” was actually identified by Kenyan Scientist four years ago as “a cure for a drug -resistant strain of a sexually transmitted disease”. Apparently the drug is one of the most common traditional cure for many disease.

The herb known as “Mtandamboo” in Swahili, has been used to treat gonorrhea among some Kenyan ethnic groups, namely the Kikuyus, Samburus and the Maasais. The Kambas on the other hand have used the herb for chest pains while the Nandi have boiled it and used to for the treatment of breast cancer, headache and chest pains.

Becoming Aware of the Manifestation and Warnings of Cardiovascular Disease

Coronary heart disease is a potentially lethal blockage of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle, or myocardium. Its chief clinical manifestations are ;
1) Myocardial infarction( a blockage of a section of the coronary arterial system) resulting in death of the myocardial tissue by that arterial branch;

2) Angina pectoris, a severe chest pain signaling that the delivery of oxygenated blood to the affected area of the heart is insufficient for its current workload; and

3) Disturbance of the heart’s electrical conduction consequent to arterial blockage, resulting in disruption or interruption of the heart’s pumping action, often leading to death.

Most of the time we assume coronary heart disease is a condition affecting the elderly and therefore ignore symptoms in a younger person that could have saved life. The following cases demonstrate the importance of health knowledge and intervention in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in particular as concerns young people.

Wes Leonard, a 16 years old high school basketball ball player collapsed after scoring the final score that gave his team victory on the 3rd of March 2011 and died thereafter. Wes was a 6’2 tall young man and weighed 215 pounds. Autopsy report shows that he died of a cardiac arrest caused by an enlarged heart.

On the 5th of March a 17 years old rugby player collapsed after a tackle on his chest during a game. Matthew Hammer was pronounced dead on the pitch. According to the Coroner report Mathew died of cardiac arrest caused by a congenital heart defect.

Two days later on the 7th of March 2011 a female athlete collapsed during practice and was rushed unconscious to hospital. Sarah Landauer a 17 years old soccer player and track star died while undergoing treatment on the 9th of March 2011. Sarah had apparently collapsed in February 2011 while training but had been cleared to resume sports by her doctors. It is not clear what killed her but her parents claim that she had a cold and was having problems breathing

The Phenomena referred to as Gender Identity Disorder

Gender Identity refers to one’s sense of maleness or femaleness. This maybe distinguished from gender role, which refers to the masculinity and femininity of one’s overt behavior. Gender identity is the strongest correlation with biological sex, but is not perfect.

There are cases of individuals who feel extreme discomfort and unhappiness with their biological sex and trongly desire to change to the opposite sex. Such people referred to as transsexual, actually opt for expensive and complicated surgery to accomplish their desire.

The DSM-IV-TR list gender identity disorder under sexual disorders and is characterized by two components;

1) A strong and persistent cross-gender identification- that is the desire to be, or the insistence that one is of the opposite sex, and

2) Gender dysphoria- a persistent discomfort about one’s biological sex or the sense that the gender role of that sex is inappropriate. This disorder may occur in children or adults of both sexes.

Gender Identity Disorder of Childhood:

Research shows that boys with this disorder show a major preoccupation with traditional feminine activities (Zucker, 2005; Zucker & Bradley, 1995). This boys may prefer dressing in female clothes and prefer playing stereotypical girls activities like playing with dolls. Such boys are normally ostracized by other boys as “sissies”.

Girls with the disorder resist wearing the stereotypical girls clothing like dresses preferring boys clothes and short hair. They prefer boys sports and show little interest in dolls . Most tomboys will have these traits but girls with gender identity disorder are distinguished by their desire to be a boy or grow up as a man.

The Diagnosis of Somatization Disorder under the DSM

Somatization disorder is characterized by many different complaints of physical ailments for several years that are not adequately explained by independent findings of physical illness or injury and that lead to medical treatment or to significant life impairment.

Somatization disorder was formerly known as Briquet’s syndrome, after the French Physician who first described it. The disorder is similar to hypochondriasis but people with hypochondriasis tend to be convinced that they have an organic disease. Further more the person suffering from hypochondriasis has only a few primary symptoms while in somatization there are multiple symptoms.

People with this disorder are costly to health care systems because they often have multiple unnecessary hospitalizations and surgeries. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR) list four other symptom criteria that must be met before a diagnosis of somatization can be made.

These are;

1) Four pain Symptoms: The patient must report a history of pain experienced with respect to at least four different sites or functions. These maybe the head, abdomen, back, joints, rectum

2) Two gastrointestinal symptoms: The patient must report a history of at least two symptoms of, other than pain pertaining to the gastrointestinal system. For example having nausea, bloating, diarrhea, or vomiting when not pregnant

3) One Sexual symptom: The patient must report t least one reproductive system other than pain. This maybe sexual indifference or dysfunction, menstrual irregularity, or vomiting throughout pregnancy

4) One Pseudoneuroligical symptom: The patient must also report at least one symptom, not limited to pain, suggestive of a neurological condition. This could be systems that mimic sensory or motor impairment such as loss of sensation or involuntary muscle contraction in a hand.

Important Factors about Hypertension

Ideally, one’ blood pressure should be 120/80. By convention the first number given is the systolic pressure when the heart contracts; the second is the diastolic or between -beat pressure.
Hypertension or high blood pressure is defined as having a persisting systolic blood pressure of 140 or more and a diastolic blood pressure of 90 or higher. There was a time when blood pressure below 140/90 was considered normal. Currently blood pressures in the range 130-139/85-89 are classified as “high normal”(Joint nation committee, 1997).

In general, blood pressure increases as we age. In younger adults, more men than women suffer from high blood pressure. However at the age of 50, the prevalence of hypertension is higher in women. This could be attributed to menopause which amplifies the stiffness in the arteries that naturally occurs with increasing age (Takashi et al., 2005).

As of 2002, it was estimated that almost 50 million Americans had sustained hypertension (Blumenthal et al., 2002 ).

Possible Causes of Hypertension

Many clinicians believe that hypertension begins when a person has a biological tendency toward high cardiovascular reactivity to stress. This coupled with given difficult life circumstances, makes the person progress through borderline to frank hypertension in the adult years.

The Effect of Stress on the immune System

A person’s overall life situation influences when a disorder first develops and the nature, duration, and prognosis of that disorder.

The link between stress and physical illness involves diseases (like colds) that are not directly related to nervous system activity. This suggest that stress may cause an overall vulnerability to disease by compromising immune functioning.

Early studies that examined the association between stress and immune functioning rapidly established an association between stressful circumstances (like medical exams) and diminished immune reactivity. Such diminished immune reactivity would make a person more susceptible to infections.

Although individuals may react differently to stress, stress does have the ability of suppressing the immune system thereby leaving one vulnerable to an attack.

The word immune comes for the Latin word “immunis” meaning “exempt”. The immune system protects the body against such things as viruses and bacteria. If the immune system is too weak it cannot function effectively and the body succumbs to damage from invading viruses and bacteria.

In the same way, if the immune system is too strong and unselective, it can turn on its own normal sells. This is the cause for autoimmune disease like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

The white blood cells are at the front line of the immune system defense. Those cells are produced in the bone marrow and then stored in various places throughout the body, such as the spleen, and the lymph nodes.

Dispelling common Myths about Rape

Rape is the act of forcefully having sex with another without their consent. The act of rape is completed on penetration. Rape may occur even when a person purports to consent if they are intoxicated and the perpetrator is aware that the person is not in their rightful mind to give legal consent.
There are many other cases under the law where rape may be inferred but for this article the focus is on the popular cases of rape where violence or force is used to have sex with another.

There are many common myths that people infer from rape. This may cause people to sometimes judge the victim and excuse the acts of the rapist. On the other hand people may ignore a rapist in their environment because they assume a rapist looks a particular way.

Common Myths:

1) Rape is a non-violent crime- the truth of the matter is that rape is a violent crime that affects many women annually and is usually committed under threat of great bodily harm. 90% of rape victims are threatened with physical violence.

2) The primary motive for rape is sexual- The reality of the matter is that most rapists are motivated by the need to dominate, humiliate, control, brutalize and overpower another human being. Rape is an act of violence acted out sexually. Research continues to show that the majority of convicted rapists had available sexual partners when they committed rape.

The Insanity Defence and established precedents for the defence

The insanity defense also known as not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI) is used by an accused charged with a criminal offense, in particular murder, with the aim of avoiding the legally prescribed consequences of their crimes.

In criminal law, for one to be found guilty of a crime, it must be proved that there was actus rea and mens rea. In other words the person committed the unlawful act (actus rea) and did so with malice afore thought or had reasonable knowledge that their action would result to what they are charged with (mens rea).

When one pleads insanity or NGRI they are in fact saying that although they committed the act they are not guilty because they had no malice aforethought (mens rea).

Legal Precedents on Insanity Defense in the USA

1) The M’Naghten Rule (1843)- Under this rule, one is assumed sane unless it can be proved that at the time of committing the act, they were laboring under such a defect of reason (from a disease of the mind) that they did not know the nature and quality of the act they were doing, or they did not know that what they were doing was wrong.

2) The Irresistible Impulse Rule- This view holds that an accused person might not be responsible for their acts even if they knew what they were doing was wrong if they had lost the power to choose between right and wrong. In other words, the person could not avoid doing the act in question because they were compelled beyond their will to commit the act.

3) The Durham Rule- In a 1954 US court of Appeals ruling, the insanity rule was broadened. Mr. Justice David Bazelon was of the view that the previous precedents did not allow for a sufficient application of scientific knowledge of mental illness and proposed a test that would be based on this knowledge. Under this rule, the accused is not criminally liable if his or her unlawful act was the product of mental disease or mental defect. This rule is often referred to as the product test.

The dangers of blindly accepting the so called medical studies

More and more we hear of scientific or medical studies suggesting that a particular thing is right or beneficial for us and those concerned start preaching it as gospel truth. Most of these studies are sponsored by the big pharmaceutical companies who are in the business of selling drugs.

These studies even when not proven, seem to influence how people live their lives as well as influencing the dependence on pharmaceutical drugs. In the Western world, pharmaceutical drugs seem to be prescribed for everything even when an alternative treatment would suffice. Sometimes rest and change of lifestyle is all that is needed.

The problem seems to be that in the generation we live in more and more people have become dependant on the systems of this world for their existence. The media has played a great part in bringing about this phenomena. The media parades information in way that influences thinking and most people have become victims of the misinformation that is constantly paraded to them.

In the process of this dependence people have lost that basic tenet that all human beings possess; common sense. If one were to carefully follow the news about health research one would be left dizzy because of the many contradictions.

Some of the busted Myths :

One day garlic is said to lower bad cholesterol, then after more studies, it does not. Another time hormone replacement reduces the risk of heart disease in postmenopausal women, then a bigger study finds that it does not, and in fact it raises the risk of breast cancer.

The Interesting but confusing phenomena of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)

According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR), dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) formerly known as multiple personality Disorder (MPD), is a dramatic dissociate disorder in which a patient manifest two or more distinct identities that alternate in some way in taking control of behavior.

The person may also be unable to recall important personal information which cannot be explained by ordinary forgetting. Each identity that the person manifest may appear to have a different personal history, self image, and name, although there maybe some identities that are only partially distinct and independent from other identities.

In most cases the one identity that is most frequently encountered and carries the person’s real name is the host identity. The host identity in many cases is not the original identity. The alter identities may differ in striking ways involving gender, age, handedness, handwriting, sexual orientation, predominant affect, foreign languages spoken, and general knowledge.

Needs and behaviors inhibited in the primary or host identity are usually liberal displayed by one or more alter identities. Roles like that of a child and someone of the opposite sex are extremely common.

Alter identities take control at different points in time and the switches typically occur very quickly (matter of seconds). There are however also cases of gradual switches of identities. When switches occur, it is often easy to observe the gaps in memories for things that have happened to other identities.

In reality DID is a condition in which normally integrated aspects of memory, identity, and unconsciousness are no longer integrated. The presence of more than one identity and significant amnesia for what alter identities have experienced are not the only symptoms of DID.

The Reactive America needs to learn how to Respond

When one observes the American society from a detached mindset, one is surprised at how predictive it is. It is almost like people are programmed to think and act in a particular way.

One may argue that this is true of all societies, but this writer’s observation is that in the USA, it seems almost robotic. The same things seem to repeat themselves and instead of dealing with the root cause of the problem, issues are glossed over by utilizing profiles, prejudices and judgments and coming to an expected conclusion.

Emotions are hyped with patriotic sentiments used to make anyone who refuses to conform seem disloyal. A case in point is the reaction to the much publicized shooting in Tucson, Arizona of a senator and others which left six people dead one of which was a Nine year old girl and a judge. The purported shock of the nation was surprising considering that this seems to be a daily occurrence in the USA.

One wonders whether the reaction that was witnessed was caused by the fact that there was a senator involved. On the same day that the Tucson shooting happened, there were local reports of two teenagers who had been shot in Los Angeles, California. This was not national news because it happens everyday. Yet when the Arizona shooting happened there was a media reaction which hyped people’s emotions to start the blame game.

Previous inflammatory remarks by politicians were being blamed for the shooting without even trying to understand the motivation behind the shooting. The democrats blamed the Republicans while the Republicans blamed the Democrats. The irony of this tragedy is that the nine year old girl that died was born on 9/11 a day that reminds Americans of violence against her. Was it perhaps something that people needed to reflect on and find meaning?

It time to be sensitive to homeless people

The reaction to the discovery of the homeless man with the “golden radio voice”, Ted Williams, is amazing. Before the discovery of his gift, the 53 years old man was just another homeless man that perhaps many passed and ignored. Within a week however, Williams has had offers for employment right and left from many known institutions, including the Cleveland Cavaliers.
It is very easy for anyone to become homeless in America. In fact it is said that most people are one check away from being homeless. Most people have little community ties or strong families that could sustain one in times of need.

This is because the society is based or founded on individualism. Further few people have good savings, if any, that could help in difficult times. When things go wrong financially, most people discover they are alone. Even when someone steps in to help, unless they offer employment, the help is short lived.

Many people assume that the homeless are just some losers who perhaps have nothing to offer society than their panhandling and a story that no one cares to hear. Some will judge them as lazy and may want nothing to do with them. Yet, when a man with so much talent and education like Ted Williams is exposed to us, what do we say?

The fact of the matter is that there are many people who are homeless because they have mental health conditions and as a result cannot work. Some like those with schizophrenia may be misunderstood and may find solace only in the streets. Then there are the many sad cases of veterans who come back from war and find they have nothing and end up homeless. Many of them also suffer from Post traumatic Stress Disorder because of the war experience.

The Darkest side of Human trafficking

Many times we hear of human trafficking and to many it means nothing because it does not involve them. To others human trafficking is just another moral dilemma that does not concern them. After all this kind of thing only happen to the poor from the so called “third world countries” who are easy prey to the dogs involved in the practice.

But what is human trafficking?

Human trafficking is the unlawful trading of human beings “for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor”. In reality human trafficking is a form of modern day slavery with more sinister motives and capturing the lowest attribute of the human being.

Most of the trade is carried out in the Western world with their victims coming from poorer nations and involves sexual coercion and exploitation. Most of the victims are lured through the Internet with promises of a better life in the Western world.

Some are lured by the middle men recruited by the perverts to identify those to be exploited. Others particularly children, are kidnapped and stripped of their rights as they are moved away from their homeland and families.

Africans and Asians, where the victims are mainly from, have strong family ties and most of the victims will be lured with the promise that through them their families lives will be made better. Obviously they assume they are coming to do legitimate work.

Once they get to the country of destination they are hit with the reality that they are sex slaves and they have no way out. Their passport will be confiscated and they are warned not to talk to anyone. They will be made to do things they never knew existed with no right to say no.

The Sad story of Lolita:

This writer came across the story of a twenty six years old woman named Lolita who is a victim of human trafficking. Lolita’s story is heart rendering and will make you angry, sad, or ashamed to be associated with human beings that do such things to other human beings.
